Routeburn Trail Half Day Guided Walk
New to 2011! This guided walk on the Routeburn Track, one of NZ’s Great Walks, is the half day version of our popular Full Day Routeburn Trail. Departing from Queenstown accommodation at either 8am or 1.30pm, your guide will drive you along the spectacular Lake Wakatipu and in to Mt Aspiring National Park. Access to the track is via a swing bridge, from where you are immediately immersed into stunning native beech forest.
On this moderately paced 2-hour walk your guide will point out some stunning examples of native plant and birdlife. They will also share information about the historical significance of the Routeburn Track and how it was used by Maori and European pioneers.
Enjoy your complimentary Scroggin’ - the snack of choice for Kiwi hikers - beside the icy Routeburn river and surrounded by snow-capped peaks, in this little slice of true New Zealand wilderness!
